Start of summer?

Summer in the UK - mostly rain and drizzle and you will be lucky to get above 20 if not in London. But I have been well and truly 'told' by the weather: you are totally wrong. Today = sun, lovely breezes wafting through green leafy foliage and a cold glass of cider. 24 degrees C - and while that may not feel particularly hot elsewhere for some strange reason in the UK I'd say it equates to about 28ish in hotter climes.
Today I visited Jodrell Bank ahead of my punishing schedule to get back to running and get my arse into shape ahead of my (can't believe it) 37th birthday. J has been pushing me to go to Jodrell for ages. For those not in the know it's a radio telescope and my thoughts were originally 'ho hum major boredom ahead'. However it was actually pretty good. We had this goofy astrology dude tells us all about the telescope and then answer questions from his attentive audience. Loved the moment when a little girl asked 'Do you think God exists?'. Pause. Everyone stares. What will the astrologer say?? Will he kill the little girl's faith? Is he a closet Christian? No he was actually a very sensitive guy who said that while he didn't believe in God he didn't say anyone else shouldn't and the work they were doing there was not about proving of disproving God merely about better understanding the world we live in. Nice.
Of course all went a little pear-shaped if you added that to his explanation on how the universe was created but no one connected the dots and the little girl left faith intact and smiling. Good day had by all.
Rather than doing the colouring in of astrological shapes we decided a lunch on the cafe terrace in the sun was a better option although I admit to fears of usual overpriced underflavoured and basically rip off food was to be had.
But no! Que Surprise!! Or however you say that... Amazing amazing grub. I had a salad (part of the new diet) and it was incredible. J had a burger (bastard) and I nabbed a taste and wished I had gone the burger. Lamb burger but with incredible flavour. Very Med.
So good start to day.
Then cider on the terrace outside Lime Bar in Salford Quays. Now everyone outside Salford Quays has nasty things to say about it. Yes Media City now exists but it will never be Canary Wharf. Well Canary Wharf was crap for a long time and Salford Quays is actually starting off better and on a day like today with a cider in hand and looking over at the Lowry Theatre, I have to say to the doubters: get a life. London is not all that. You may even enjoy the Beeb being being in the bright hub of Manchester.
Lets hope tomorrow is just as good as tomorrow is my first day (gulp) of trying to get much healthier and aim to run that 1/5 marathon end of the year.
I'll tell you the countdown tomorrow. It fills me with the fear!

Standing here on the balcony experiencing a gorgeous sunny day in Manchester.
It does make you happier being in sunshine and truthfully this city is simply stunning with some decent light.

Moving madness

Well moving weekend. Why do we move? It's hell! Suddenly realised I've
too much stuff and rather than work yesterday should have taken it off
to pack.
But no.... Leave it to the absolute last minute so I can ensure
maximum stress levels.
Muppet!
And kept up by soon to be ex flatmate having boyfriend over... Again.
So I am clinging to the thought of my own place where I don't need to
queue for the toilet doing that dance when you are truly desperate.
It's the small things!

Hyde park in the sun

Sitting here and the sun is shining. Hyde Park on a saturday perfect
place to laze about reading a newspaper drinking coffee and people
watching.
Who wouldn't live London on a day like this?

Busy busy week

Well this has been a busy busy busy week! I'm currently taking a break
from work at 11.30pm on a Friday night and waiting for Gary to text me
to say he's up and I can call.
I'm also listening to a-ha greatest hits including their new single
which is surprisingly good and the perfect soothing background music
for Friday night working.
So what else is new??
Well went to the proms again this week with Emma, Shalea, Mandy and
Dan. Amazing venue: at Albert Hall and amazing music. We did the cheap
seats in the gallery for £5 each and took a picnic and sprawled out on
the floor. Perfect night until we got outside and it was raining.
Thankfully not that cold just wet!
We then all letup with Emmas friend Nick and went to the imperial
college union bar: very posh for student digs!! But a great G&T to
finish off a terribly English night.
Of course then I get home and can't sleep. At all. Not a wink. Finally
hit 4.30am and gave up accepted my fate and read my book. And sods law
I doze off just before the alarm goes off so I press snooze (bad move)
and fall into a deep sleep until Gary text me and scares the living
daylights out of me. Certainly woke me up.
Unfortunately to the mad panic of how to get to work for a meeting
that started in 10mins. Impossible: but interesting how the mind still
thinks it may me possible!!
So now I'm exhausted and waiting patiently for my ex hubby to hurry up
and let me know I can call. Ho hum waiting waiting waiting.....

Salsa night

Well for those who read my first blog you'll know that I have my salsa
class on Tuesday nights.
As usual it was the perfect way to end any day. The music is great.
The people are great. All round good fun.
Bonus my Aussie friend Elaina is finally back from home. All the usual
suspects where there including this little group of Spanish guys who
really know the moves.
Unfortunately had to leave before the freestyle section as I've work
to do. Ah well have to pay for my salsa classes somehow! Truthfully
though I do love my job. So it's not that hard work!
